If your kids love to climb, swing, and hang, adding a ceiling hook can turn any room into a highly engaging play zone! With one strong anchor point, you can rotate fun indoor toys, keeping things exciting and fresh.

Here’s how to take this idea from dream to reality:

1. Choose the right spot.
Pick a space with plenty of clearance - ideally in the middle of a room or play area where kids won’t bump walls or furniture. Make sure there’s room to swing safely in all directions.

2. Find a ceiling joist.
You’ll need to anchor the hook directly into a solid ceiling joist (not just drywall). Use a stud finder to locate one. If your ceiling is finished, you can double-check by drilling a small pilot hole to feel for resistance from the beam.

3. Pick the right hardware.
Use an eye bolt and a hook designed for hanging swings or hammocks. Those linked hooks and eye-bolts are rated for heavy weight, 500 lbs or so. Since it’s technically for kids, you could tolerate a smaller capacity. But what if you want to give a tutorial? You’ll also need a carabiner for making toy switches easy.

4. Install securely.
Drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than your hook’s threads, then twist in the hook until it’s flush and snug.

5. Rotate the fun!
Now for the best part!! Clip on your rope climbing swing, stretchy sensory swing, or climbing ladder. Switch them out as often as you like to keep playtime fresh.

What would your kids think? Is this a project you’d try?
