Fresh tracks on this boy’s bedroom
My son’s bedroom is the only room in our house that has had zero love shown to it - no paint, no window treatments. It was blue to begin with (and the least offensive design choice by our home’s former owners). A project we always had on the horizon that never quite made the cut. Until now!

I started this process knowing that I wanted my son’s room to have a cohesive theme. Something that would last for years but would also be fun and joyful. He is a very athletic kid, so sports were a logical option. Landing on ski expanded beyond sports a bit to include mountains and snow (fun and fun).
Here’s the mood board:
Wall Mural from Murals Your Way - This is really what got me excited about this space. I love it because it’s not overdone, it’s somewhat interactive, very engaging and also it’s a mountain, how pretty! Murals Your Way appears to be the only supplier that offers ski resort maps in this form. They offer several ski resorts - I went with Whistler, because it’s closest. (Although we have never gone skiing there!)
Table lamp from Amazon - I find this lamp to be complementary. It’s not overtly ‘ski’, but is fun and unusual. This one is a close second and about a third of the price.
Double wall sconce from Lowe’s - this bedroom has a tendency to darkness - these lights should help with that.
Mini ski chair lift from Ski Life Designs (on Etsy) - originally I hoped for a mini gondola, but this is also SO adorable. I hope my son collects ski resort stickers and puts them on these little chairs (I purchased four).
Dog Skiing Print from Etsy - Something about the black and white makes this print feel a little serious, which I like. So it’s cute, but not too much. This is very much the mood.
Stick wall hanger from Amazon - I like this mix of texture. Certainly one could make something like this fairly easily (maybe that’s what I’ll do?)
Pray for Snow wall flag from Etsy - In the Pacific Northwest, the snow prayer is often necessary.
100% cotton flannel duvet from Amazon - I love the Buffalo Check pattern (very woodsy) and the red contrast with the blue walls.
100% cotton sheets with skiing dogs by Eddie Bauer from Amazon - this is a kid’s bedroom after all! I love fun sheets. I remember shopping for sheets as a teenager at the Eddie Bauer Home store. What a throwback!
Wool rug from Etsy - The majority of the rugs in our house are made of wool. It wears so well, is naturally antimicrobial, soft and beautiful. Bonus is that this pattern gives Nordic with a hint of snowball.
Felt wall board by Lightomorrow on Amazon - I love the look of this felt wall tack board! Lightomorrow did reach out to me and gifted this board to me. Previously I had used the Felt Right tiles (see before photo below). These worked fine, but since my son covered it with photos and pictures, the design was irrelevant. I think the Lightomorrow board is more straightforward, easier to hang, and serves the intended purpose.
